Panalpina has a dedicated Compliance team which works independently within the company. The team is lead by the Corporate Compliance Officer who is reporting directly to the Legal Committee of the Board of Directors and the CEO. The compliance team is split by geographical responsibilities based on the specific needs of those areas.
In addition the compliance team draws on resources of the global HR organization and works closely with the Corporate Audit team as well as the global legal organization. Further support is obtained from external sources such as legal counsel or the Basel Institute on Governance who advised Panalpina in elaboration of its compliance program.
Training program for employees and partners
Panalpina has designed a comprehensive training program which includes onsite management sessions as well as e-learning modules on the different topics of the compliance program: The Code of Conduct as a whole, Anti-Corruption, Free Competition and Trade Regulations. The e-learning sessions are targeted to reach all Panalpina employees and have been translated into many languages. They include tests and certifications for all participants.
To consider our partners and suppliers we have created an adapted version of the Anti-Corruption e-learning module which we make available to our partners and suppliers on request.
Cooperation with partners, suppliers and sub-contractors
Panalpina works together with different partners, suppliers and sub-contractors around the globe. As these entities represent a part of the supply chain it is essential that those partners commit to the same standards as Panalpina does, in particular in critical countries. To ensure this commitment, Panalpina has put in place a due-diligence program which includes a certification of all partners, assessments, questionnaires and interviews. If the compliance standards are not met violators have to bear the consequences which can include termination of contract.
